The Smoked Pear Margarita is our autumn-inspired twist on the classic. Made with mezcal tequila, lime, agave nectar, and smoked pear purée, this cocktail is smooth, subtly sweet, and finished with a rosemary sprig for a smoky fall vibe.

About This Smoked Pear Margarita

We first mixed this drink at a fall tasting event on Long Island, where the smoky pear purée stole the show. Guests loved the depth it added to the margarita profile—sweet, earthy, and just the right amount of smokiness. By the end of the night, every rosemary sprig garnish had been claimed!

Think of it as the cozy cousin of the Prickly Pear Margarita—a seasonal cocktail that balances tequila, citrus, and pear in a way that feels made for sweater weather.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz mezcal tequila
  • 1 oz smoked pear purée
  • 3/4 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz agave nectar
  • 1/4 oz triple sec (optional)
  • Garnish: pear slice, rosemary sprig
  • Glass rim: kosher salt

Steps

  1. Lightly smoke halved pears (or substitute smoked syrup), then purée.
  2. Rim a margarita glass with lime and dip into salt.
  3. Shake tequila, pear purée, lime juice, agave, and ice in a shaker.
  4. Double-strain into the prepared glass with fresh ice.
  5. Garnish with rosemary and a pear slice.

Tips

No smoker? Torch pear slices before blending or add a splash of mezcal for extra smoke.

Variations

  • Prickly Pear Margarita: Swap pear purée for prickly pear syrup for a bright pink version.
  • Spicy Pear Margarita: Add jalapeño slices to the shaker for heat.
