This Spiced Rum Punch blends spiced rum, pineapple, orange, lime and a touch of grenadine, finished with nutmeg. It’s bright, cozy, and batch-friendly—made for fall get-togethers on Long Island.

About This Spiced Rum Punch

We first served this after an October beach cleanup in Islip. We had sandy boots, a chill in the air, & big smiles all around. One punch bowl later and the whole crew was toasting cinnamon sticks. The formula follows classic punch logic—spirit, citrus, sugar, water, spice—with tropical fruit to keep things fun and a pinch of nutmeg for true fall vibes.

Tools You’ll Need

  • Shaker tin (for single serves)
  • Punch bowl or drink dispenser (for batches)
  • Jigger, bar spoon, ice, strainer

Ingredients (1 cocktail)

  • 2 oz spiced rum
  • 1 oz pineapple juice
  • 1 oz orange juice
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 1/2 oz grenadine (or 1:1 pomegranate syrup)
  • Dash of ground nutmeg
  • Garnish: orange slice, pineapple wedge, cinnamon stick

Steps

  1. Shake. Add spiced rum, juices, and grenadine to a shaker with ice; shake until well chilled.
  2. Serve. Strain into an ice-filled glass.
  3. Finish. Sprinkle a pinch of nutmeg and garnish with fruit and a cinnamon stick.

Party Batch (12 drinks / ~2.5 quarts)

  • 3 cups (24 oz) spiced rum
  • 1.5 cups (12 oz) pineapple juice
  • 1.5 cups (12 oz) orange juice
  • 3/4 cup (6 oz) fresh lime juice
  • 3/4 cup (6 oz) grenadine
  • Freshly grated nutmeg to taste

Combine in a chilled dispenser or punch bowl with a large ice block. Float citrus wheels and pineapple chunks. Offer cinnamon sticks as stirrers. Keep extra ice on the side.

Bartender Tips

  • Balance: If it tastes too sweet, add a touch more lime; too tart, add a splash more grenadine.
  • Ice management: Large ice block for the bowl = cold without fast dilution.
  • Fresh nutmeg: A tiny microplane grate right before serving makes the aroma pop.

Variations

  • Dark Rum Punch: Swap spiced for dark/aged rum; add 2 dashes Angostura.
  • Ginger Punch: Top single serves with a splash of ginger beer.
  • Apple Spice: Replace half the pineapple juice with fresh apple cider.
